Anibrith Bhattacharjee, Basavaraj Dhula, Chetan Pardeshi, Narendra Parmar, and Tushar Awari of team 1Step Ahead won the organization-wide Step-Up challenge with a whopping total of 21,97,992 steps in just 4 weeks! How did they do it? Well, the answer is simple: teamwork and constant communication.
Right off the bat, team 1Step Ahead set an ambitious goal for themselves – the 10k by 10am rule – which meant every member had to finish 10k steps before 10am every day and use the rest of the day to do more – sometimes 15k, sometimes 20k. “It was really easy for us to achieve the targets we set because we worked so well as a team – everyone put their best foot forward and managed to cover for each other when needed.” Throughout the four weeks of the challenge, when one member was sick or had a huge workload, the others rallied around for him, offered support, and took on the responsibility to achieve his target. The team found themselves leading the pack with an impressive step count from the get-go and continued to set higher targets for themselves based on the leaderboard and how far/close the other teams were.
They took their tracking to the next level by creating an impressive visibility tracker, that highlighted their progress week-on-week, individually and as a team. Looking at their progress, visually, enabled them to identify where they were lacking, and what new target they wanted to set for themselves. Their tracking strategy is not only impressive but also a testament to the power of teamwork and communication, showcasing how each of their unique skills and expertise made their team stronger and more efficient.
Apart from winning and getting pats on their backs, this challenge has also improved the team’s physical and mental health – walking is now a part of their daily routine. They still schedule walking breaks after lunch/dinner and sometimes take calls while walking around the house. From losing weight, waking up earlier than before, getting better quality of sleep, to starting the day with a pump of adrenaline and serotonin – all of them vouch that their lifestyles have changed for the better. They feel more energized, focused, and productive throughout the day and that has had a direct impact on their work-life. Walking has become a habit, with more and more family members joining them every day with the same intent of starting and leading a healthy lifestyle.
