“If you dare nothing, then when the day is over, nothing is all you will have gained,” is a quote Monalisa lives by and the biggest example of that is her bold decision to pivot and change careers when the world was hit by the COVID-19 wave.
As the education industry shifted to virtual classrooms and distance learning, Monalisa – who had spent more than a decade as a teacher and coordinator – was faced with unforeseen challenges and uncertainty from salary deductions to job insecurity. For her, this demanded a change in career, and she started looking for jobs in other fields before she stumbled upon Rayden through a relative.
As a Market Research Analyst at Rayden, she began learning everything from scratch and started taking on more responsibility as her team supported her and she grew in her role. She has recently shifted to Change Management, where her teaching experience comes in handy, especially since she is responsible to internalize the constant changes coming in, deliver them across the organization and create learning paths for the team to ensure everyone is on the same page.
“I think it is counter-productive to put barriers for oneself. Stepping out of your comfort zone is very important, and I can vouch for that because I did it myself. It opened up a whole new career path for me and gave me the chance to explore skills and opportunities that I hadn’t before. And look how well that turned out!”
